Dr. Huda Suliman

Icaria Life Sciences

Prior to joining Ichor, Dr. Suliman was manager of research & development at Acumen Detection, LLC., an SRC company. At Acumen, Dr. Suliman developed novel assay technologies for the identification of mastitis causing pathogens as part of a point of need testing system designed for dairy farms. These assay technologies, as part of the system, are patent pending.

While working as a research scientist in SRC, Inc.’s Chem-Bio Defense group, Dr. Suliman developed novel assays for the detection and identification of biological threats. She was a principal inventor for three unique biological assays. In only three years at SRC, her inventions led to the development of an entirely new product line that could be used in a variety of civilian and government applications including biosurveillance, chemical and biological defense, food, and water monitoring, homeland security against bioterrorism, and public health monitoring. In addition, these innovative assay technologies resulted in two awarded patents and one that is patent pending. Her inventions include one-step assays to detect the presence and activity of Ricin toxin and Botulinum Neurotoxin A. Dr. Suliman was awarded “Young Technologist of the Year” by the Technology Alliance of Central New York in 2014 for her novel assay development work at SRC.

Dr. Suliman earned her undergraduate degree in chemistry at Manhattanville College, Ph.D. in biochemistry at the University of Texas at Austin, and MBA at SUNY Oswego.
